Bex was born in Peoria, Illinois and moved to Tanzania, East Africa at age seven. She served in the Peace Corps from 2008 until 2011, which was her first exposure to American culture as an adult. Bex moved to the U.S. in 2011, and started experimenting with painting as a way to communicate her feelings and observations around how society and culture impact a person's sense of self. She is drawn to abstract oil painting as a way to capture and communicate the emotions surrounding these themes.
Bex lives in Rockaway Beach, NY, where the two blues inspire her daily.
